MU GALLERY is pleased to present “Spotlight” by MARIA SAKURAI 11/9(sat) to 11/23(sat).
MARIA SAKURAI was born in 1996, graduated from Tama Art University.
Started activities as an artist in 2020, and now collaborates with apparel brands focusing on work production.
There are various places of activity such as solo exhibitions, group exhibitions, and mural paintings.
Belongs to Creative Association CEKAI since 2021.
She has also collaborated with “WEGO”, “BEAMS” and “NIKE”.

Message from Maria Sakurai for this exhibition
”REJOICE”
Each ocean, swimming, at the point of overlap.
Floating with voiceless laughter.
We communicated beyond words at the point of spillover.
The illusion of reunion will light up the feet of tomorrow.
Encounters go around and make the future.
The days flow by, we embrace them and begin to move forward.

I painted artworks while thinking of my faraway friend for this exhibition.
We each live our own lives, each going in a different direction.
I hold on to warm memories and take them out from time to time to light up my busy days.
”REJOICE” means for me, a moment that makes my heart happy is not only when I am making something, but also when I encounter a kind word, when someone reaches out to me, or when I had a good laugh.
They always light up my steps toward tomorrow.
To create such moments in our daily lives when we think of those far away and connect with those by our side.
I wish I could share that joy with you this exhibition.
